October meeting in the books!

Thank you to Jackie for hosting us last week!  We really enjoyed hearing Alex Slaughter talk about the admissions process, the evolution of admissions, and the slowing down of the growth as A&M and College Station try to adjust to larger and larger enrollment.
Here is a snapshot of what we learned:
  • Overall there is a 58% acceptance rate.  10% of the overall applicants are from out of state and approximately 6% of those accepted are from out of state.
  • Texas student’s have priority – mandated by Texas Law that no more than 10% of total enrollment can be from out of state.
  • TAMU is still a test optional admission – however most students are still submitting scores and they are high.
  • Extra curricular activities are very important, especially leadership roles in organizations.
